HOLLY HUNT's luxury portfolio includes the imaginative designs of Toronto-based custom art studio Moss and Lam. Their work balances art and design, bringing a unique and playful quality to their collection for HOLLY HUNT. The studio was founded in 1987 by Deborah Moss and Edward Lam, and now comprises 20 highly skilled creatives who produce artwork and objects that appeal to our desire for whimsical, beautiful and authentic objects. Led by Creative Director Deborah Moss, all their work is handcrafted using a wide range of materials to achieve a broad stylistic vocabulary, including plaster, paint and ceramic as well as marble, metal and textiles.

Based on the idea of reconfiguration and movement, the geometric Playtime collection was designed to redefine how people interact with furniture. Designed for use as tables, seating or objets d'art, the abstract pieces offer the ultimate flexibility, shifting to suit a space's changing needs. Each one-of-a-kind piece is handmade using the ancient technique of scagliola – a cast marbleised compound of cementitious plaster and pigment. The smooth crisp pillars stand confidently on their own, but are most impactful in playful groupings with their varying colours, shapes and sizes.

Moss and Lam looked to the W1 district of London to inspire its Dover Street, Dean Street and Mount Street side tables. The studio encapsulated the contrast of slick new builds against stately Georgian townhouses through highly contemporary silhouettes and the scagliola casting technique. The complementary pieces work in freestanding graceful presence or as groups, and their artistic, sculptural quality means they sit harmoniously with both antique and modern designs.

Inhabiting the overlap between art and design, these animal-inspired silhouettes are emblematic of Moss and Lam. The hand-finished table is rendered in smooth plaster and refined Portland cement, finished with protecting felt feet. Channelling a sense of imagination and wisdom, the unexpected pieces are designed to bring originality to any setting, be it bedroom, office or living space.

The Tam Tam Side Table is artfully functional, designed to be used as a table, seat or simply a decorative piece. The contemporary form has an industrial quality, with edges subtly rounded to ensure maximum tactility. Its fine plaster scagliola technique imitates a dramatic marbled finish, with colourways of cobalt and orange with ultramarine veining, or chalk with carbon veining.

The framed wall art series, Edge Spiral and Edgescape, examine the tactile and sculptural qualities of paper. First inked, and then torn by hand, the paper is then curled into emotive forms to become an organic expression brought to life as a 3D drawing.
